From Rundown to Refurbished: How We Transformed 42 Derelict Garages in Watford

Back in March 2024, 42 garages in this area were abandoned, overgrown, and unlettable. Watford Council had the funding to make a change but needed the right partner to bring the vision to life. That’s where we came in.

Working closely with the council, SPS led the regeneration of the site. In just 16 weeks, we turned a neglected space into a secure, fully refurbished garage site -complete with gated access, solar lighting, reinforced security, and anti-social behaviour measures. By July 2024, every unit was let, generating £48,000 per year and delivering a strong return on investment for the council.

This wasn’t just a financial investment. It was a project built on our core values- creating safe, functional, and community-focused spaces. The result is more than just 42 new garages; it’s a revived area with real social and economic impact.
